Our Pastor
Pastor James L. Pugh was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and raised in Smithfield, North Carolina.
He is a graduate of Johnston Central High School in Smithfield. He is a graduate of North Carolina A & T State University, where he earned a B.S. in Political Science. He earned a Master’s of Public Administration from Troy State University and a Master’s of Divinity from Shaw University Divinity School.

He is a loving and dedicated husband to Sherrill Fergus Pugh, a school teacher, who is indeed a partner with him in the ministry. They are the proud parents of one son, Jeffrey.

Pastor Pugh started his preaching ministry in September of 1998 at Elevation Missionary Baptist Church in Raleigh, N.C. He was later ordained at Malaby’s Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church in Knightdale, N.C. In April of 2006, he was called to pastor God’s people at Saint Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Spring Hope, North Carolina.

Pastor Pugh never forgets from where God has brought him from. Because God loved him greatly and has poured out His love into him, Pastor Pugh has a genuine love for all people. And, he is committed to taking the gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth. He is not ashamed of the gospel, for it indeed is the power of God unto salvation.
